I need some serious pro help on this one.
Hi everyone!
I have been googling probably for a week now, watched probably 1 billion annoying videos on youtube on car noises
My ITR is making a very very strange noise, almost a calm/soothing fast paced clicking noise. I dont know how else do describe it in words.
I have excluded that this is something rubbing (it might sound like that in the video), i am very confident that it is infact a mechanical noise though, most likely from the gearbox/clutch area.
The car does not have A/C btw, so we can exclude that real fast as a source.
The car has a busted clutch release bearing which can be heard in the part of the video where i put the car in neutral and release the clutch pedal, i am aware of that noise, this is NOT the noise making me crazy tho (but maybe related to it? anyone?) Its the other noise that is making me nervous. It's the noise that can be heard with the clutch engaged AND disengaged. In real life it sounds like some kind of worn bearing that is vibrating/loose. Maybe a bearing inside the gearbox?
I dont demonstrate it, but it will also be there when i drive very slow, and when i reverse. Once i get the speed up, its gone, for the most part, it might come for a split second now and then, just to remind me i have a problem with the car, but mostly its there on idle as i already stated.
Car sounds and runs fine except for that sound.
So here's the video, a kind friend of me uploaded it:
I recommend headphones for analyzing the sound.

Check the easy stuff first. Disconnect each drive belt one at a time to rule out a bad bushing in the psp, alt. then lift the car up and check if a bracket or exhaust is loose. Check for any physical signs of something being loose

From: Howcome we park on driveways, and drive on parkways?
Replace that clutch release bearing.
While you have the trans off, inspect....
From your username having "C6" and the broken English im going to guess you are Australian?
Take apart the trans and inspect. It's not worth risking it for the couple hours of taking off the trans case for major problems. If you dont find anything, pull the oil pan and girdle and see what the bottom end looks like.
Good luck

Thanks for the replies guys.
I am pretty sure this is a mechanical noise, but i do agree it sounds like something vibrating/rubbing/touching in the video, in real life it sounds a bit like a old harddrive, an aquarium waterpump, a watercooler for the CPU or something along those lines.
Not gonna fully exclude it being the exhaust or something like that though.
It does not follow the engine rpm's no, except it's usually just there when im idling or driving slow, and it gets a bit more agressive when i reverse, it sort of starts to make a "clicking" sound then.
And yeah, i have already ordered a new release bearing, should be here in a couple days, but i'm afraid the noise is something else though, i have been thinking to myself it might be something inside the gearbox, but the only moving part in there when the car is in neutral idling should be the flywheel though, no? I am no expert on this though.
Lol do australians have a broken english usually? The broken english and C6 is because im from Norway in this case
I'll get back to this thread when i learn what the problem is, it might help someone else in the future.
Edit: this guy seems to have the same noise going on in the background https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-...noise-3182326/ eventhough he is asking about some other noise in the video.
