Default Wiring new fog to existing aux lights?

Hi,

Just a quick question, is it safe to wire fog lights (55W) to existing aux light harness? I want to do this so I don't have to wire anything and can still use stock aux switch to turn my fogs on. I tried this already and it worked but I want to know if it's safe or will it burn or melt the factory aux harness. I know the aux lights are much less W than 55W. I just connected the two wires (positive and negative) that comes out of the aux light harness that usually get plugged in to the aux light and instead i plugged them in to a 55w bulb and it worked.

Thanks!
