D-Series combination for my Civic 1995
Hi!
I am planing to swap my stock D15b7 with a SOHC 1.6 Litre vtec engine. Skimming through various forums I have decided to go for this Combo, depending on the availability:
1) ZC JDM SOHC Vtec Block.
2) D15b Single Vtec Head.
3) D16y8 Intake manifold.
4) D16y8 Header.
5) D15b P2J ECU.
I guess this will produce max power out of the Ds. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. What modifications i need to do? Or will this setup be an easy bolt on one??

The SOHC ZC Vtec head is exactly the same as an OBD1 D15B Vtec head, which is also the same as a D16Z6 head. Actually a JDM SOHC Vtec Z6 (OBD1) is the same as a D16Z6. Use whatever is easier to find in good shape.
A Y8 IM will make marginally more top end power. I really don't think it's an especially big deal.
IIRC the '99 - '00 Y8 exhaust manifold is a bit different. Z6 and '96 - '98 Y8 are basically the same. '99 - '00 Y8 is steel rather than cast iron I believe. It wont make much if any difference.
Use a P28 ECU. The P2J besides being extremely rare is for the OBD2 3 stage D15B Vtec.

I guess D15b head has a little aggressive cam. Which transmission do u suggest?? I guess D15B, ZC and D16z6 all have similar Tranny.
D16y8 has 4-2-1 header I guess. That will definitely increase the flow of exhaust air.
And yah one thing more. Which engine will pull my Civic 95 Ex better. D15b Single vtec or ZC SOHC Vtec??
