D16 ZC or SOHC VTEC?
Ive got a good DOHC ZC D16a9 on an engine stand in bits, but the head is scrap. Can i use a D16z6 head or d16y8 head on that block with the ZC pistons, they are domed pistons that give a 9.5:1 CR, are the valve cut outs etc in the right place to clear the Z6 valves.?
Also, whats the difference between a d16y8 and a d16y7 and a d16z6, can they all be used on a non vtec block??

A SOHC head wont fit on a DOHC block....
y8,y7, and z6 can all be used on a non vtec block...aslong as its a d series SOHC, (just the heads?) a d16y8 is a SOHC VTEC head....a d16y7 is a SOHC NONVTEC head , and a z6 is an older SOHC VTEC head...
Z6 has better flow....and i think y8 has higher compression? both y8 and z6 are good sohc vtec's...usually people use either a z6 of a y8 for a mini-me swap.
