hey guys, not sure if this is already a thread, if it is, please link it.
i just bought a 97 crv, all is good except for one thing
when im accelerating up to desired speed everything is cool.
but when i let my foot off the gas, i get a humming noise, or a whirring. coming from the rear end, i cant tell if its coming from one side or both. but again, its only when i let off the gas.
im not sure if this is a wheel bearing issue, or a rear diff issue. the guy i bought the car off of also told me he just serviced the rear diff, with the proper honda fluid. tomorrow ill be jacking the car up and trying to figure it out on my own. but if you guys have any tips or experience with something like this it would be much appreciated.

 

change dpsfII fluid from the rear differential... half of the time when our Vs makes that noise,
that is the issue...

 

okay cool thanks, also, i jacked the car up today and was spinning the hub by hand, and i did hear a sputtering sound from the diff, but it was quiet cause obviously i couldnt spin the hub that fast, ill pick up some fluid from the dealership this week. thanks!
