Default gsr spun bearing and using ls internals?

whats up guys,

so i have a bit of an issue and it may have well been covered already.
i have a 95 ls currently running in my eg coupe, im getting a super sweet deal on a gsr with a spun bearing. so whats the possible damage to the block and what am i going to need to do to take my ls internals into the gsr. also would higher comp pistons help it run better?

It probably has metal throughout the entire engine and will need completely disassembled, cleaned, and inspected. Its unlikely the block is completely junk from a spun bearing (rod bearing I assume?).

LS cranks and rods drop right in using the correct size bearings. Higher compression pistons can help it make more power depending on your goals. Read up in the all motor forum too. There's quite a few people that have run 89mm LS crankshafts in GSR blocks.

if it's a rod bearing you're good since you'd be using the ls crank and rods. however, if its a main journal bearing id scrap it. you'd have to have the main machined which is can cause problems if not done correctly.

the 89mm ls crank and rods drop right into the gsr. the only mod you'd have to make is to the oil squirters. you can either remove and plug them, or you can bend them to clear the crank. (id suggest plugging them with Golden Eagle oil squirter plugs) also make sure to use LS rod bearings. The main bearings are the same for gsr/ls..

good luck..
