'88 GSR-powered CRX (JDM ITR Trans and many more goodies) - $3800 OBO
I've owned this car since age 16. It is in very nice shape, it needs someone who will show it some love as I have a new Honda love in my life (NSX) and for the past year it's been sitting in the weeds. I considered parting out, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to tear it apart. Come rescue!
I've done all work on it myself, building it from a stock Si into something a bit faster and more capable. Now it needs you to finish it off! The asking price reflects its shape and all the gofast bits included with the car. I've probably put $15,000 into this car over the course of my ownership.
The interior is in nice shape. I found the passenger door rubber is leaking (the day after it happened) so I lifted the carpet on that side. It's dry now, no rust, and in nice shape. The dash has a single unnoticeable crack up near the windshield, but is otherwise near perfect. The other plastic parts might have a scratch here and there, but are super clean. The seats need foam and reupholstering. The headliner is clean, and the parcel shelf and trunk are intact. No rust on this car. I will include the amps and subwoofers, as well as the head unit. The sunroof and all electronics work. Door panels are as nice as they look. A few nicks up near the window but extremely nice. Floor mats are decent, just need some good cleaning. The CRX lettering has recently come off.
Exterior is also really nice. The paint needs a buff, but it was repainted 4 years ago. The passenger fender is crunched (see pictures) but I've replaced corner markers etc.. Front lip has also been repaired but needs paint and installation. The rear lenses have been replaced and are perfect. The wheels are in nice shape and include the center caps. I currently have extended studs on to accommodate wider wheels, so when switching to stock wheels I had to leave the caps off.
Engine Bay:
OBDII B18C1 converted to OBDI spec. Adapted to CRX harness with RyWire conversion harness. Estimated 110,000 miles on the engine. It has some minor low pressure oil leaks. JDM Type R S80 Trans (Helical LSD, 4.785). Innovative Hydro->cable conversion bracket. Innovative mounts. Stock GSR intake manifold. You will need to install an intake of some sort.
Other performance:
Innovative competition traction bar with adjustable caster, Ground Control coilovers with extended tophats, '91 Civic EX knuckle conversion (to maintain suspension geometry), 10.3" Integra front brakes, rear disc conversion. 4040 prop valve. Edelbrock short shifter.
Extras: Included with the car are any Civic/CRX/Integra goodies I can find in my shed.. A/C Compressor/lines, JDM rear floor mats, Original knuckle/hub/uprights/struts/brakes, complete uninstalled energy bushing set, OEM hood bra in great shape, cracked DC headers, spare rear lenses blah blah blah. Please take it all.
This engine and trans were BAR'd in a Del Sol prior to being in this car (I helped part that car out and saw the certification), so there is no reason it wouldn't pass in this car. You will need to provide a 50 state legal intake. I was attempting to maintain a stock look but couldn't find any intakes that fit the CRX/B18C1 combo and soon after lost interest in driving the car. I'll smog it for transfer so you can daily drive it while preparing for BAR, or leave it as is.
I have all the D16 smog/mount/electrical stuff in the shed if you wish to convert back to stock or go turbo. I also have a B18 built by Comptech (top)/Bullfrog (bottom) about 10 years ago if anyone is interested... estimated around 300hp. I'll try selling that separately but I'll be asking an additional $2500 for that engine.
241k miles on the chassis, clean title, no back fees owed.
Over all, this is a very honest car that is ready for some love.
$4500. OBO.
Mods, please note sale-signed pictures below the new ones..

This thing has potential.. You know what? This will decimate all, after, you put about fifteen grand in it or more. If we have to, overnight parts from Japan..

haha, thanks. I just washed her up, I'm going to get the paint all cleaned up and replace the door seal. No more surging idle, sounds beautiful... Get her now before the price goes up (I'm going to look into BAR and reupholster). This thing is really nice...

So like I said, I purged the air out of the radiator and drove it around a bit. Gave it a super quick wash and took my girl to lunch after putting the interior together. I'll probably smog it next week. DAMN I forget how much I love this thing. Sure, it's a bit rough around the edges, but the suspension is SOLID and it pulls hard. I am on slightly underinflated stock size tires but it holds in the corners so well, I was within 5 miles per hour of my NSX around the tightest turns in my local canyon. No smoke from the tail pipe, no backfires, no issues.
Also have original owner's manual, tool kit, and wood that goes on top of the spare tire.

Where in CA are you located? Would love to own another CRX...it's been 15 years since I sold mine.. I'm in WA state, but I have in-laws all over CA that I could make an excuse to visit so I could look at a car.
I really don't frequent H-T much at all anymore, if you still have it and want to talk back and forth, email me please and i'll send my phone number. fmserc@gmail.com
