Default 15,000 Mile Service

So, I called the dealer to make an appt, and mentioned I only wanted a few things done, since the 15,000 mile service is mostly inspections and a rip-off at $250 anyway. Plus, I've already done most of the items on the list. (taken from the owners manual and itrsport.com). But here are a few things the dealer said:

1. Valves aren't adjusted until 30,000 miles. I thought it was 15,000.
2. The clutch cannot be adjusted, it's hydraulically adjusted. I wonder what to do here, since my clutch is way to mushy. I guess I'll have them inspect it.
3. Transmission fluid also not changed until 30,000 miles.

Does all this sound OK? Mind you, I tracked the car 14 times this year, so this is not just a commuter or weekend car. I wonder if I should have them do all that stuff anyway.

1. i adjust my valves every 15K miles, some do every 10K which isn't a bad idea
2. clutch can be adjusted for pedal play..
3. i flush my fluid at least every 15K, once i start doing it myself, going to cut down to 10K

1. it is 30k for valve adjustment (unless your dawgin your car real bad)
2. bleed your clutch
3.30k tranny fluid change is correct too (unless you grind gears alot)

Considering you've tracked your car 14 times, I would do all three of them at the 15k service. It could only help.

I do the Oil change and Brake Fluid Flush pretty much every other track day, which is about 6 times this past year. I think I'll have a tranny fluid flush and valve adjustment done anyway. If anything, it'll prepare the car for next year.

Easy stuff. I'd suggest that you learn to do it yourself and save $$$$.

You also know that it was done right!

That's one hell of a deal... give up the name of the dealership.... even though I live in the other side of the coast, but for the peeps near you....

Basically it's an oil and filter change, tire rotation, plus a lot of "misc. checking"... I don't think any adjustments were made. The 30K service is quite a bit more, though.

Dealer is Castle Acura in New Castle, DE.

yeah if u rotate ur own tires, change ur own tranny fluid, change your own oil, etc.. it doesn't leave them much to check out but it's nice to have paperwork on the major service dates milage why, that's why i took it there, they also adjusted my clutch's pedal play.. hada get used to shifting all over again -rob
