Default b16a2 main bearing caps torque spec

Does anybody out there has correct torque spec for those main bearing caps? My 'How To Build' Honda B-Series book says that i should first tighten bolts to 22 ft-lbs, then tighten bearing caps No.1 and 5 to 56 ft-lbs and bearing caps No.2, 3, and 4 to 49 ft-lbs. If that is correct, then what about caps 6-10? What about those caps? What's the torque spec for those caps after the initial tightening to 22 ft-lbs? Can anybody confirmed this?

The B16A2 is a 4 banger motor. There should only be 5 main bearing caps in the block and then you have 4 rod bearing caps.

I do not know where in the world you are getting the 6-10 bearing caps from.

It's not the individual bolts it's you tighten both bolts/nuts of each cap 1 and 5 to 56 ft-lbs. Then do both bolts/nuts of each cap of 2-4 to 49 ft-lbs. This is of course after you have tightened ALL the main cap bolts/nuts to the 22 ft-lbs.

Being a girdle you can do the same sort of pattern as you do head bolts but do a reverse process and start on the outside working in. On head bolts you work from the middle out.

This part in red probably is wrong. I didn't check it to the FSM and made the assumption based on the two seprate torque values, for the outer to inner. I'm willing to bet now that I put it in writing that it's totally *** backwords and girdles get torqued from the middle out just like heads. The FSM for the engine will be your friend on this.

Sorry about that. What i meant to say was 6-10 as through the tighten sequence that had suggested in the book i was reading from before. But none less thanks for the info!

The final torque value of 49 ft/lbs for caps two, three, and four only applies to the GSR and ITR engines (B18C1 and B18C5) because they have aluminum main cap girdles which expand at a different rate than the steel main caps. Engines without a girdle, like the B16A2/3, B18A/B and B20B/Z have the same final torque value of 56 ft/lbs on all five main caps, not just the outer two (caps 1 and 5).

Yes TomCat 39, the torque pattern IS from center outward when tightening (Order: Cap 3,2,4,1,5)... not from the ends toward the center. Loosening the main cap bolts is done from the ends toward the center.
