Default Civic EM1 vs. EK steering rack - What makes them different?

Years ago I needed a new steering rack in my EM1 and I explored all options to give me quicker steering. I found an online remanufacturer that was willing to build one for me with an Integra pinion. Everything seemed OK with it, except the turning radius is really awful. In other words, I can't make any really sharp turns. If I pull into a parking space, for example, sometimes I have to back up and pull forward again. I've lived with it, but now that my steering rack is leaking and I need a new one, it's got me wondering if the wrong rack was sent to me.

The Honda part numbers are clearly different and unique for the EM1 compared to the EK. We know that the ratio is the same, so what is the difference and how to I make sure I get the right one without having to order directly from Honda? I'm not being cheap, I just don't want to give up quicker steering, if possible.

Bump

I need a power steering rack and pinion for my del sol, would really rather not go remanufactured. It would be nice to get the complete unit with the inner tie rods and everything. What do?

Just FYI that there actually is a SPEC difference between the Si and other models.
The rack stroke is decreased from 73mm to 67.8mm which accounts for the change from 3.60 LTL to 3.35 LTL.

Still not as good as Integra, but it's almost a ~10% improvement

Very interesting, thank you. So, those of us who originally had EM1 racks don't see the same benefit as EK rack owners? Would this also account for the reason why the turning radius is so poor in my car?
