So I bought a civic
So I bought a civic a little over a month ago and ended up throwing a rod out of no where, hole threw the block and all. I got in contact with the guy I bought it from and he agreed to replace it instead of going to court to get my money back because he forgot to put "sold as is" on the bill of sale. Well I just got the car back today and everything seems to good except after driving it a little while the check engine light comes on and since its obd1 I have no way to read the code. Do you guys have any suggestion. I would try to get it to flash but its off once I turn the car off and will not come right back on with the car running. The motor that I had swapped into it was a D16Z6 from the same year civic.

you made someone replace a motor because it broke in a used car and threatened them with a lawsuit? you suck. i read the ny regulations for selling private party, everything is assumed as-is, whether or not there was a written agreement. hopefully this motor grenades, too.
Only way to win usually is if the seller did not disclose any major problems, besides that it's As-Is.
You got lucky.
Either read the amount of flashes (jump harness first) to find out what the code is, or use a bad *** OBD scanner.
