y7 or z6 block for build?
Im going to the junk yard to get a block this week to put my z6 head on. There are like 50 y7 blocks many with low miles or the cars were totaled so less chance of motor trouble. There is one lonely z6 motor. It has alot of miles and the car is riced out so Im sure it was beat on.
Is the Z6 block really that much better that I should take a risk on it over a y7 block?

you're rebuilding the motor, shouldn't matter how bent on it got, whatever you meant by that. Unless your definition of rebuilt is different than what the rest of us thinks.
sorry beat is what I meant. by rebuild I meant new bearings and rings. I shouldve been more specific. Id rather not do that if I don't have to.

The Z6 has different crank oiling than the y7. I believe there are 2 oil holes per crank journal rather than 1. 200 is safe for a d series, keep in mind torque is what breaks parts, not horsepower.
Ohmega is right, the Y blocks don't have as many oil passages for the crank as the Z. Thus the spun bearings. You'd be safer with a z6 if you planned on building it to the hilt. For a daily, it shouldn't matter Y or Z as long as you're not raping it all day.

It will be seeing boost at some point this summer nothing over 200 HP though. Ill probably go with the y7 just because it'll have lower miles and they're easier to get to in the yard. The car with the z6 is buried and not on blocks so it would be a pain to pull the motor.

No, not for the Y's. It's all in the design. If you plan on boosting your single cam, z6 are the way to go. Y's just have too many spun bearing issues, I've even seen it on one that was boosted less than 10psi. If you truly want to boost it, just wait and plan for the z6.

Personally, If I ever look for another Civic, I'll look for a Z6 engine, not a Y8.

ugh. Now I don't know what to do. I'd rather not replace the crank. I was going for easier over harder in regards to frankensteining anyways.
Than this is not a rebuild, you're expecting us to tell you which block to choose so you can do "less" of a rebuild. Understandable if you're tight on the mucho but in all honesty its not going to be worth it down the line if you have plans. Whatever the **** they are.

what in the **** are you talking about? the y8 block sucks, the head is fine. the low comp b20 block is trash, the rise in its popularity is due to the abundance and price of them. as to your goofy statement about the b20 head, all i have to say is p8r. thin cylinder walls + 84mm pistons= no thanks. hypocrite time- i use a b20 (high comp) in my track car. it is NOT because i think its a great motor, its because i can grenade them all day and replace for 4-500.

some like b20's because they are cheap others like pickles instead of cucumbers .......
