Default NC engine builders

I've searched some here and have found some posts on the topic but all were a few years old.

My '00 Civic with the 1.6L SOHC Vtec and 200K on the clock is burning a qt of oil every 800 miles. It still runs great and gets 34mpg.

I want to start researching Honda engine builders in my area. The car is my daily driver, 100% stock and has been very reliable. I'm looking to go back with all OEM parts to get another 200K out of her.

So far I've found;

KMOD in Asheboro, about an hour from me. Engine rebuilding looks to start at $1950.

National Speed in Wilmington, about 2 hours from me. Looks like I will have to contact them for prices.

Thanks

J.Mills tuning just outside of Raleigh. Great guy, great work, great prices. Give him a call and let him do the work. You will be pleased. https://www.facebook.com/JMillsTuning/
Another option is to sell the engine and swap it for a low mileage JDM equivalent. He can do the swap for you.

If oil consumption is the primary reason for the rebuild, id start with new valve stem seals first to see if it helps.
@ 200k miles and 16 years old, they're probably leaking.
If you think about it they are rubber and can leak just like any other gasket on the engine.

But valve stem seals are under vacuum pretty much all of the time the engine is running so the engine is always trying to suck oil past the valve stem seals.

I know I didn't answer your question directly, just want to make sure you don't accidentally fix what nots broken and save you a few bucks.

I will contact J Mills and Nat Speed to see what they have to say.

Valve seals are possible but there isn't any smoke, might pull the valve cover just to see what they feel like. I did try soaking the cylinders overnight for the oil rings but didn't help.

Thanks everyone.
