96 Civic Hatchback CX - need help adding power steering

Default 96 Civic Hatchback CX - need help adding power steering

Hello, i recently bought a 96' EK hatchback without power steering and im planning on adding power steering but i am not sure what all parts i will need to successfully do this. Can someone list all parts for me on how to successfully add power steering to my vehicle?

PS pump
PS hard lines with brackets
PS pressure switch, connector, and wiring
PS pump brackets
PS resevoir
PS hoses

what kind of connector/wiring? i was planning going to my local junk place and grab the full power steering set from a vehicle and putting it onto mine

I had the same idea as you when I first bought my CX hatchback.

Don't do it
, adding PS is a pain in the *** and a total waste of money.

I thoroughly enjoy the feeling of no PS now, and I'm sure lots of people can agree.

just my .02
One difference is turning speed. Non power steering racks are a lower gear ratio so it's not so hard to turn without the assist. That also means the wheels turn slower and less per same distance of the steering wheel turning.

It's why at the minimum, many auto cross racers do an integra power steering rack and just loop the rack onto itself. They get the manual rack with the fastest turning capability on stock honda/acura parts.

For the ek's they just replace the pinion with one from an integra, then do the loop.

You can't add the Integra one without swapping subframes over. Find a 96-00 EX.

This is the reference I used when I did mine. It was worth it to me because it was such a pain without it.
