Default Burning smell going up mountains

I have a 92 Honda civic DX 1.5L Every time I try taking my car up a mountain it smells like something is burning. I've done regular maintenance, plug wires, plugs, dist. Cap, rotor & coil, also. Changed the oil and filter. I've also used sea foam to clean out the engine. It does not over heat. The gauge goes up slightly but that should be normal going up a mtn. Any suggestions as to what may cause this?
