Default P28 ECU - Resistor installed in C52 location...

I bought this chipped ECU recently, while looking it over I noticed that someone has stuck a 1k ohm resistor in C52; shouldn't there be 0.1uF capacitor there instead?

^x2

and just for future reference;
C = capacitor
R = resistor
D = diode
J = jumper (connector)
Q = transistor
Z = zener diode
RM = resistor network (RN)??
IC = integrated circuit
QM = transistor network (QN)??

Thanks for the replies!

I noticed that some chipping kits don't even included the caps for C52 and C51, for example:

Xenocron Tuning: Chipping Kit w/ SST Chip (OBD1 ECUs) USDM Kit & JDM Kit #OBD1-SST

So, do those caps even do anything?

States on that page that they are not required.

They are noise/voltage filters for the EEPROM chip power supply. I would assume that with today's hardware and software the voltage for writing chips/running an emulator are fairly stable and do not require these capacitors.

I still have a bunch of them in stock so I install them anyway, it's instinct.

They are not necessary but if the design engineers put them there, they help with stabilizing voltage to the programmable chip.
