98 Civic Lx Auto Trans - Higher Rpm's After Replacing Head Gasket
I have a 98 Civic Lx Auto Trans and I replaced my head gasket a few days ago.
I do alot of highway driving and I noticed that to maintain a speed of 60 I need to hold it at a higher rpm than before. Before it was ~2.2k to maintain 60 but now it is ~2.9k. After the head gasket fix the idle was high( over 2k) because of a vacuum leak between the intake manifold and the head. I tightened the bolts more (my torque wrench couldn't fit to tighten the bolts) and the idle rpm dropped significantly. Could it be a leak still?
Also the gasket set that i bought came with 2 different intake manifold gaskets. I only put 1 on.

Are you sure the car is shifting into overdrive? A trans problem would be indicated by the grear selector icon flashing on the dash
Did you unplug the trans solenoids during the job? If so you need to make sure they are replugged correctly. Also, misadjusting the throttle cable to the trans can make it think you have the gas floored all the time and stay in "kick down" to a lower gear, but that would probably make the rpm much higher.

Its only 4 gears in an auto for this specific yr.
Overdrive would be 3rd gear.
Reset ecu and relearn idle.
