The dowels
Idk how many dowels there should be in the head or block. Today I plan to put my head back on the block. I noticed yesterday there are no dowels in the head. On a spare head I have there are two on the exhaust side. I currently only have one dowel on the block that I plan to install it on. On the exhaust side. Should I go hunting for these things and install them before I install the head? D15

Should be four dowels. Take a picture of the block and post it up.

no matter what car or engine it is you can actually look at the block and head and determine where the dowels go and how many you need. The head/block are cut to fit the dowels. You can also consult your service manual.
SOHC D-series have (2) dowels on the exhaust side, one near each end - sounds like you have enough to do the job - just pull them out of the head/block and put them in
