My two Civic's speedo reads 3 mph faster than true speed, so they're inherently inaccurate. Are you running stock wheel and tire sizes?

First welcome back from your workcation that's a damn good question I'm not sure if I wheels and rims on my car if they're stock or not. I'm on 610 going over I-45 merging the Highway 225 there's a cop next to me. What's the best way of finding out if I have stock rims and tires

Thanks!

Start by posting the front and rear tire sizes printed on the sidewall.

Something tells me there's not much I can probably do I even replace that stupid sensor goes on the transmission. One time you made a recommendation to me about getting a new speedometer setup go ahead and just resend that to me I think I'll print it out and get me one you said it had a tach on there and everything. Something tells me that's easier than doing what you're fixing to probably tell me to do or I cannot do 😥

It's not clear to me that another speedometer will solve your problem.

However, do you have a manual or auto transmission?

Well, MOST Texas cops will let 5mph over slide. Depending on what city and roads you might get 10 before they jump on you lol. (Dallas maybe 15!!)

Both our Sols are off by 3-5mph over, tho I think 160s are a lil more than 165. (14" rim)

I got an app called Torque, and it has a GPS speedometer in it. I verified that when my speedo says 75 I'm actually doing closer to 71-2. (yes, 75 is posted speed).

The free one works with ODBII wireless dongles. Bluetooth or WiFi. And, tho you don't need one for checking speed, you can get one on ebay for about $10-15.

Good luck!

I believe there was a discussion on here at one point that indicated the manufacturers were not required for 100% accuracy on the speedometers, more like a +/- 10% tolerance.

Which is not true for the odometer which was indicated had to be 100% accurate by legislation.

Doesn't really help your situation any but it does hold up in court I've been told.

You can try to either get some bigger rims/tires to compensate for your speed, or do like I did on my teg, and take the plastic off of my cluster pull the needle off, then put it back on as I'm driving while using my gps as my speedo.
Took me a few tries, but I got it within 1-2mph.
