Honda CRV 2000 Ran Dry (No Oil)
My girlfriend's family CRV was having troubles last night. I thought it may have been a tranny problem from my quick look online. They had her towed though and discovered that it had no oil in it. I know with Accords (which I work on) if the engine runs dry you are usually hooped. Just wondering if there is any hope.
More info: She (gf) was driving the car after our date and violent shaking of front end occurred when acceleration applied. Drove about 10km home and told them to get it towed in the morning. She also mentioned that they had very recently had a professional oil change done. When I looked under the car there was the usual minor leak but nothing that would cause that much oil to go that quickly. To clarify, not the type of leak that drips oil.
My questions: what are the possible consequences of this? Given your answer, what is the cost in a shop and is DIY possible? Also, is it possible there was an error on the shop's end?
Thanks guys/ gals!
