Default vtec working properly?

hello guys , im new to this site. i have a 95 accord ex. f22b1 vtec. when i got the car it was bone stock. iv done bolt ons like headers, msd 10.2 mm plug wires, cold air intake, it has a full greedy exhaust. anyways when i got it ifelt like it lacked of power, after iv done everything i could tell an improvment in mid range, but above 4k rpm i feel like it doesnt climb as fast as it should with the (vtec). iv compaired runs on youtube with similiar mods and i feel like mine isnt as quick. i took the vtec solinoid of and realized it had a worn gasket. i just replaced them and put it back on yesterday. but i didnt test it to see if it worked with (wire and jumping a 12v battery) . anyways does anyone know any info on what to check or how to check/test to see if vtec is working? i had a CEL but i replaced my gauges with faceplates and the CEL light isnt working any more. i just need some ideas im running into a dead end. Thanks!! any responds will help

If you have a CEL then there is a code set. Figure out how to get the CEL functional again and pull the codes. Two wire blue connector under the glove box. Jumper it, turn to II(ON) watch for blinks. Post back here.

there was a cel light, but the light stopped working for some reason. i jumed tested the solinoid while it was running and rpm dropped wich means the solinoid is good. i also tested the pressure switch with multi meter and it tested out 12v when i jumped the solinoid so thats good. so either its an ecu problem? or maybe a wiring issue... iv replaced gaskets also. ill try to get the cel light to work but iv tried. iv been trying to find a new gauge cluster also

I would fix that Cel light, If you are throwing a cel there is a good chance your car is in limp mode and will run very conservatively. You may be able to connect a light directly to the ECU, it may be easier just to fix the light tho.

I was worried my Vtec wasn't working so I hooked up a led to the vtec and it was working, I got sick of the light since it kicked on all the damn time.
