How to check if VTEC is working?
Hey guys, ive been around here for a couple years. Many of you know I have a built D16 on boost. For a while now it just doesn't feel like it pulls the way it used to. And the other day I was trying to listen for VTEC by holding the revs around where VTEC engaged but I couldn't hear anything and my car feels like it loses power after around 6k. Is there any way I can test to see if VTEC is working? Because I tried unplugging the solenoid and it just throws a CEL instantly ( I was going to see if it threw a CEL when VTEC was supposed to hit).
Are there any specific pins that I can tap that are supposed to throw Voltage when VTEC is supposed to engage? Because this is been bothering me for a while now :/

You can test to test if the solenoid wire is getting a 12 volt signal at the time of activation. That would tell you if the ECU is at least sending signal. After, that pull off the solenoid and clean the internal passages. -Later, BR

I dont have a wideband. I didn't waste money on one. It was tuned on the dyno on a wideband, and it has a lean cut on the ignition and a boost limiter cut incase the wastegate fails so the car doesn't overboost.

get a single wire run outside to tap into the vtec solenoid and hook it to a bulb with the other connector to ground, the bulb should light to let u know if the solenoid engages

this, or get a voltmeter/multimeter and place the red (+) cable in A4 with the wire and the black (-) side on D22 or a bolt near the ECU and have a friend hold it while you drive and see if it sends 12V at the specified RPM of your ECU that VTEC activates or if you don't have friends just put it on the seat
