The other day I heard something rattling around under the instrument cluster, and today it fell out of the inch size hole beneath the steering column! It's an open ended white plastic connector with a (now open) zip tie to hold it around other wires, I guess... It has no metal parts, but it looks like you could slide one of those cylindrical type fuses half way into it, and it would hold it snug (the other end of the fuse would apparently hang out of the plastic piece).
The car runs fine, but before I start removing dash pieces to see where this came from, does this sound at all familiar to anyone? Maybe the open hole part is meant to snap onto a stud to secure a wire harness from moving around? Any ideas would be appreciated!...

I think I'll do a few laps around the beltway (potholes) and see if anything falls off for an additional weight savings.

 

This reminds me, I dropped a dime in my heater vents and I haven't heard or seen it since.

I don't have a digital camera to take any pics, but since no one has identified what it might be, I'll assume it's another unnecessary component that will save me a gram or two in weight!

 

It's probably the zip tie that holds the wire harness onto the cluster.
