Icon7 A trip up to Avenue of the Giants

Just thought I'd share some pics from this past weekend during my trip to the Avenue of the Giants in Northern California.

The trip included a drive on a section of Highway 1 between Westport and Leggett that was without a doubt the longest run of twists and turns that I've ever driven. Pure insanity...

Cool I'm in the Solo group. It's yellow which means it's almost full. Not sure what group you usually run with but the other groups have availability.

One of my favorite places to visit. Did you get a chance to stop by the famous General Sherman Tree?

Dang... I missed that one. I stuck mostly to the main avenue. Stopped at a few places a long the way but didn't set out to hit all the key landmarks - simply wanted to drive and take in the incredible views and trees.

I'll be sure to head that way again - there seems to be more than trees in them there hills

It's a few minutes walk off the main road. Beside BIG *** trees, there Giants living in there. LOL! Seriously, next time, you got to take a few short hikes in there. It make you appreciate what Mother Earth has to offer.

Damm... I'm just looking into this now and it seems that Laguna Seca has a 90dB noise limit... WTF is that!

Anyway... given that its not at all likely that my car will be able to run there as it currently sits. I do wonder if going back to something like the Mugen Twin Loop exhaust will work at that track. From what I'm hearing in the communities, this 90dB thing is not easy with any type of aftermarket exhaust. What a joke...

So I'll have to keep looking into these noise implications as my primary reason for bringing my car out this way was to enjoy some of the great tracks out here - and Laguna was my main target.

Most cars that don't pass the DB limit (mine included) just basically putt putt up from turn 5 to turn 6. It's the turn right before the uphill. As soon as you hit the bridge you gun it and get the momentum going. It's an annoyance and there are groups that run no sound limit but they range from $400+.

It's the only place on the track where they actually measure and will flag you. Unless your car is obnoxiously loud you'll be fine. To put it in perspective I'm running a 3" exhaust system. I've been playing with throttle position and last time I was able to get up the hill at around 70 which is an average pace by modulating the throttle. Trying to get my Hytech twinloop installed before the 16th.

Have you guys looked into a helmholtz resonator? Bisimoto is a big fan of them. Might help with reaching that 90dB limit.
