Default Low oil pressure on engine rebuild

Okay so just built a k20a3 and im getting no oil to the head. I used Lucas sae30 break in oil and a new oil pump.

I did build the head with these mods

Cam: bc0051
springs: bc1050

I have a loud tapping and im guessing its my rocker arms not getting oil pressure. I heard i can mess them up if i let the engine run like that but i did try to move the car back and forth and it moves perfectly fine.

When i get on the gas a bit to try to raise oil pressure it doesnt sound like it wants to shut off nor does it choke so im guessing im getting a good A/F ratio.

After having the car on for a total of about 5 minutes my head is still dry. Any help? Thanks!

Hello Eddygee53,

Sounds like something is not put together right or maybe a blocked passage. Only fix would be to disassemble the head again and diagnose the problem then. Who did you have do the work for you? Have you hooked up a oil pressure gauge to it?

I think it was a plate we didnt put around the oil pump. We put it on last night now we are waiting for the gasket maker to seal.

Alright so after looking at the oil pump, oil ports on the head and oil tubes we couldn't figure it out. We took a trip to honda to try to buy on oem oil pump because we thought the aftermarket one didn't work. They told us to check everything and we. Told them it was a slow process putting it together and they said maybe we put somthing on wrong.

Apparently the sprocket has to go on a certain way for it all to work right but we put it on right and we told them and showed pictures of the process and they said its a possibility. After sitting there and thinking i brought up all the crap that was built up in the engine and that got him thinking about filters and screens and it came to this whole in the head and that is where the oil goes to the head.

He asked if we had changed the screen because everytime you take somthing to the machine show the hot take doesn't clean the screen out it just plugs it more or just leaves it dirty. So we went back home to the car after buying the screen and we couldn't get it off so we decided to test it by losening the bolts on that plate and it turned out it was plugged so today we will be changing that after school and taking it to the dyno tomorrow or saturday
