F23A1 Swap into 97 DX
Hey guys, i picked up an F23A1 the other day for dirt cheap, iv got a few things to do to it before its ready for the car but iv been doing a little looking around and talking to some people about the Wire harness and ECU that I need to use.
The engine thats in the car now is the F22B2 NON-VTEC. Getting straight to the point, what would be the best route to go as far as the wire harness and the ECU?
Thanks in advance!!

You can run the F23A1 with the ECU and engine harness out of a 96-97 F22B1 VTEC Accord. As far as I can remember the only issue would be the F23's 3 wire IAC would have to be switched out for your original F22B2's 2 wire with the use of an adapter plate.
You will also want to get rid of the F22B2 4 -1 log style exhaust manifold and opt for the stock 4-2-1 F22B1 or F23A1 tube style exhaust manifold. Ether that or go for an aftermarket header for the F22B1/F23A1

Yeah but for $10 of aluminum plate and a couple hours labour or $35 for a manufactured adapter. You could use the F23 intake and throttle body that is suited for the engine. The engine swap won't be much of an upgrade if you put the much smaller F22B2 throttle body and intake on an engine that came stock with better parts.
Without that intake and throttle body you pretty much have a 1mm over bore F22B1, with little to no real power gains over your stock F22B2. Is it worth the hastle of the swap for no gains?
You have to remember that the VTEC in these engines is not where the power lies..... It's how well you can get them to breath with what little valve lift they have.
A cam upgrade would be a definite must for the future. Add some lift and duration to the primary lobes and raise the VTEC engagement.
