EF9 gearbox issues
Hey all,
I have this EF9 here I'm doing some work to with a LSD Y1 gearbox, it has a 3rd gear crunch during high RPM and a reverse crunch. Motor is a B18C.
So i dropped it off at a shop the specializes on honda gearbox rebuilds, they opened it up and said the gearbox is fine.
Photo of the 3rd synchro below, they said the box looks to have had a rebuilt in the past and it all looks fine and bearings feel good.
It had an exedy 5 puk sprung installed with an OEM flywheel. No signs of resurfacing on the flywheel and no obvious damaged to it. The clutch also looked fairly new.
This leaves me baffled, could the cable or the clutch or the flywheel be causing these issues? I tightened the cable abit more before i took it for a spin and it still crunched.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks!

What oil are you using? This can make a major difference in how a gearbox operates. I have learned this the hard way, I use plain oil to check for leaks then use the correct fluid. As far as reverse goes, it is not synchronized. Come to a complete stop, place into any other gear. You must be at a complete stop! Not moving! Then place into reverse, do not force it, that can bend a shift fork, if it will not go into gear put light pressure on the shifter and release the clutch slowly, the shifter should slip into reverse easily. I know this sounds condescending, I am not trying to be, I learned to drive 40 yrs ago on an english car with no syncros. Most drivers wreck their gearbox just driving normally, I was taught by the most impatient human to ever live. This way always works and is easier on the box.
