Default Blox Drag Coils 18k changing to 10k

I have a set of Blox drag coilovers which are 18k in the rear. The car was originally a dedicated track car / weekend warrior. Now its duties have changed. I want to enjoy it on the street much more. My question is, my buddy has a set of Blox Comps which are 10k in the rear, would I notice a significant difference by swapping just the springs with him?

I contacted blox and they said I would only see a minimal difference, but I find that hard to believe as 10k and 18k is HUGE difference. Has anyone tried this swap or vice versa on a different set of coils?

Thanks in advance...

It would be a huge difference. Try it out. 10K is still a lot of rear spring for a street car. The dampers being valved for 18K will help a lot. Maybe that's why they're saying it won't make a big difference.

Honestly I was a bit baffled when they said that. The spring on the 18k is soooo much thicker than the one on a 10k. I'm going to give it a go.

If not, they're for sale loll....

What are your thoughts on the new FF's? I had a set of type 1's I believe but they sucked. This was also about 5 years ago. Not sure if much has changed.

My official review of FF's in my suspension review thread was said thusly:

"In my old country, 'donkey punch' referred to what you'd do to your donkey if he was making you late for school. FF type 1's ride worse than that donkey".

As far as the type 2's go...I'd rather leave $600 or whatever they cost on the sidewalk. The sidewalk cash route has the distinct advantage in that you skip the installation phase and go right to the instant regret phase.

There's tons of choices for you that aren't terrible. Recommendations depend on type of use, budget, and what environment you'll be using them in (will you drive them through road salt?)

No salt. Just some bumpy New England roads that 18k is tough on

I've been very happy with Tein Street Advance. Their Street Flex line is really good as well, if you need something more sporty. Both have really spot-on features for a street suspension. And the ride is great. They last forever as long as they're installed as directed.

Koni/GC has been a go-to for a while. I'm "meh" about them for street use. Keep the rear rates at or below 300ish LB's. Don't lower it more than 1.38". It'll ride ok. Nice thing is that the shocks last a long time. Then again...so do the Teins.

Bilstein/GC is a bit more comfy than Koni/GC...again...keep the rates soft and keep the height reasonable. The shocks are monotubes, though...and Bilstein usually has a better damper profile than most. No damper adjustments, though.

it would be a HUGE difference. I have 10k's in the rear the right now, and have ridden in car with 14K's. that difference is night and day. ( same dampers)

to be totally honest, I'd toss the blox stuff but that's just me.

Would never roll 18k's on the street. your back is either made of jello, or you are about shitting yourself on every pebble.

To follow up with this thread, what I ended up doing is trading my 18k rear springs to a friend for his 8k springs. What a difference! Even though Blox told me it wasn't going to help me and that the stiffness is in the valve body. Wrong. The car is night and day. Tons of suspension now as before, it had NONE!

Here's some pics from today's work..
