Default hf trans better than 4speed?

I have a 91 civic std. w/4spd. Would the crx hf tranny be better than the 4 spd?

"Better" is a relative term. If by "better" you mean you get to shift an extra gear, then I suppose it is "better". If I recall correctly, the STD and the HF have different wheel hub diameters, so it would definitely not be "worth" it.

Transmissions are matched relatively speaking to the engine's output. You should stick with replacement parts for your application unless you have something more going on that you have forgotten to share with us.

yeah that's what I figured. I'm just going to convert to hydro there's a ton of 5spd 95-2000 lx civics in the junk yard by me. I plan to swap either a y7 or z6 head at some point.
