I have a 2002 accord coupes f23 automatic and recently my transmission has been acting wierd. Some days it's fine some times it may slip a little or kick the rpms back. Checked the codes and the most recent is a p0740 now this car has 232k first time it acted up fluid was kinda low and I added trans x hoping to help it. Its been doing OK since but sometimes acts up. Did I dilute the fluid to much with how liquid the trans x is? Should I drain the fluid and replace it? Any suggestions are appreciated. Ty again.

 

The 6th gen accords, model years 1998-2002, are legendary for transmission problems. The consensus advice is to use only Honda brand transmission fluid and change it (don't flush it, just drain and fill) every 30k miles. If it has been over 100k miles since it has been changed just drain a quart and add a quart of fresh Honda fluid. In the special case of really, really old fluid, the gears have been worn and the build up of particles in the old fluid may have become needed for it to have enough pressure differential to shift correctly. So you will get advice not to change really, really old fluid. But if it is starting to slip it is either try changing it or find a new car soon because the transmission will only get worse once it starts to slip.
