Need some help please - F23A1 Transmission Issue
I need information from anyone who can help. I have a 98 oddysey with an f23a7 vtec which is pretty much the same motor as the F23A1. Well I need a transmission for my oddy and was wondering if the F23A1 trans will fit my 98 oddy. Anyone with advise I'd greatly appreciate it. Ty again!
If you are hard up for a transmission 98-02 Accord and 97-01 Prelude ATs are the same family of transmission known as the 'M6HA'.
I would suggest(if you cannot find the one year wonder ODY trans) is to locate a Prelude trans as it will have gear ratios favorable for the van. But economy may suffer as the gear ratios may be numerically higher, which will have the engine revving a bit. There should be a sticker/barcode on the transmission with a specific model code 'B6VA/BAXA/MAXA/MDWA/MGRA' which is what denotes what the transmission is original from and gear ratios.

Check for stored codes.
These year of Accord ATs may have a fault/code but the CEL and/or D4 lamp do not illuminate.
Beg/borrow/steal an OBDII code reader and look for codes.

The d4 light in my 2002 accord doesn't light up period....yea anyway it's been throwing me a p0740 yes I have an obd2 scanner and the phone app has been a godsend for a lot of vehicles in my family not just mine. I can drive my accord easy for awhile but when I get into it she kicks back throws a code and today on the way back from the doctors she got warm and kicked out of 4th and stayed in 3rd vtec open burning oil and fuel. Someone mentioned the TCS it's been cleaned and the fluids been flushed it's still pink but smells a little burnt... I have concerns and ty again for your help.
