Can a broken starter wire cause a short?
So I have a b20b swap from a 98 acura integra. There's a wire that goes into the starter which I think is connected to the ignition. The wire is broken out of the starter and to start the car you have to have someone hold the wire in the starter and wiggle it around while someone turns the key to get it to start.
The other night I was having someone help me start it and when I turned the key, the wire sparked in the starter and then the car just lost all its power and now no power comes on when you turn the key. I tried to jump start it but still got nothing.
What I'm thinking is that the starter shorted out and fried my ecu. Im new to swaps and I'm not really sure where to start to figure out the problem. If anyone has any idea what it might be or if you have any advice I would really appreciate it.

Do you have a multi-meter? Check your grounds, and check your battery. Which wire are you referring to there is supposed to be 2 wires: 1 thin one going to the solenoid, and one going to the starter. The one going to the starter needs to have unfused, constant 12V, the one to the solenoid is from the ign switch that engages the flywheel.

You probably just blew a fuse. Check both boxes for any fuses that need replacement.I doubt the ecu fried from starting up your car the way you do.
Do yourself a favor and fix your starter. There's no reason to be wiggling cut wires or having a second person to start a car.

As mentioned it is most likely a fuse, [main fuse] although the batt. cable to the starter, [thicker lead] is not fused, the starter lead, [thinner of the two] is fused, in engine bay fuse box.94
