Default i got beat by a 92 civic si hatch today

i raced this kid with a 92 civic Si it has a Sohc vtec motor with I/h/e and he has a hx transmission...I have a 88 crx si d16a6 with I/h/c/e and i am running the si trans. we were going about 55 and he downshifted i followed almost exactly the same time...he started to pull from me and then he shifted...i began to reel him in pretty quickly when his 3rd gear started to open up and he began to pull away....whats the deal with that bullshiet? My car compression a incredible 210x4 and my friend still beat me WTF?? and he has 2 12 inch JL subs in his car...and i know i can drive good so what is up with that??? does the sohc vtec have that much more top-end over the A6??

hate to say ti but yep.... off the line all the way to 3rd you should be about half a car ahead but as soon as 4th comes he's gone. Top end does matter since he has about 20 or so more than you.
you were leading at the start because you had the obviouse weight advatange.

I would say do the minime swap you dont see much of a low end increase but there's alot more top end and alot less work involved in doing the whole d16z6 if you try you couls have the whole vtec head on your car and runnin for around 2 or 300 $, just remember to keep your dist. you kinda have to NR it to the head with 2 bolts but it will still work or you could switch internals with the Z6 dist but i have never done that to tell ya if its hard or not i bought a whole sohc vtec engine for 100$ for the simple fact that it burned oil allthough i didnt put it in my civic (bigger&better plans). There are alot of nice minime swap sites out there just look

you guys agree??

I used to have the same problem. I'd race my friend from a stop up until top end on this empty stretch of highway. He'd beat me by about 5 car lengths from 3rd gear on. Up until 3rd, we were right togehter. I spent $500 on a ZC and was able to beat him by about as much as he was beating me or more.

Time for a swap of some sort!

Get busy.
