Default Do i need to swap sub-frames to fix this?

i believe ive found the source of this horrible popping noise i get when braking

1994 civic EX d16z6 Auto

the Lower Control Arm Bolt that goes through the front of the LCA and into the Sub frame, was completely loose upon trying to remove it, i noticed it wasnt the right screw, so i took the screw out of the Other side which was tight, went to put the screw in and it bottomed out without catching any threads

from what i see i cannot just replace the nut, seems to be encased in the subframe (from my observance), so wouldnt i need to replace the whole subframe? and if so, is there a difference between DX, EX, Sedan, Auto or Manual?

now that i know what was loose, ive found similar threads https://honda-tech.com/suspension-br...tions-1153099/

What it sounds like to me, ( could be wrong) is that you have a broken captured nut inside the subframe.

if that is the issue you have 2 options. Replace the subframe, or cut a hole in it and fix the nut.

i sat n thought about it before even posting "Ill just cut a damn hole in it", after searching with the proper term after finding the culprit to my pop, seems everyone says the same exact words i used "Horrible popping noise"

So i grinded away, cut a square hole, and the nut fell right out, put the bolt through the hole, put the nut back on the bolt, and now im just waiting til tomorrow so i can have EVERYTHING brand new on my front end, then take it for an alignment

if you have a buddy with a welder, get him to stick a few tack welds on the nut.

This issue had been a LONG time problem, the duration ive owned it.... i bought it with a blown engine, so i didnt get to test drive it, i started out @ $450 for the car & $300 for a complete D16Z6 swap (from same exact car), And it has been a Nightmare, im in about $2400 on it, and i havent even gotten around to painting it, i hope this final stretch of work has ended the Curse this car came with, ill be swapping it to M/T soon, I swear the A/T pump is making some nasty noise, Shifts fine, but u can hear the transmission making noise Parked @ idle as if its low on fluid, but im not worried about that

then im going to repaint the car to factory color, so ill be in quite a bit after its all said and done
