Default d16a6 with d16a1 pistons- CR?

It looks like I'll be building up my a6 instead of going b16, so I've been doing some research and I think I'll rebuild the bottom end, install d16a1 pistons and go with a gude head package. I'm wondering what the CR of this motor will be, however. It looks like around 11:1 with a y8 head gasket. I did a search but couldn't find this exact setup.

this doesn't really answer your question, but if you want more compression go with the 86-87 d16a1 pistons as i here they will yield more compression.

why don't you go Supra pistions w/ B16 rods. that will hold a lot of boot.

d16a6 engine with no mill on the head, y8 head gasket and 88-89 d16a1 pistons will yield around 11.08:1 compression. keep in mind that is stock bore piston. and the 86-87 pistons suck u want p29 88-89 d16a1 pistons with the same dome as a jdm zc engine.

i recommend running the .50mm oversize d16a1 pistons from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net, with a .020 (20 thousandths)" mill on the d16a6 (or any 88-95 non vtec 16 valve head).

this set up will mathematically equate to a 1611.cc d16a6. (1611.8856440850124 cc to be exact), furthermore increasing the compression to 11.81 compression ratio.

1611cc + 11.81 compression = mean *** d16a6 with like a 270 duration camshaft etc etc etc.

what's the different between the 86-87 d16a1 pistons and the 88-89 d16a1 pistons? basically, why do the early year pistons suck?

damn JaeOne3345
good info doggg.... but i think he has a D16y8 block and wanting to use the D16a pistions.

Thanks for the info guys. Breaka, I believe the earlier Integ pistons were a flattop design, whereas the 88-89's were a domed design. If you search for "piston project" you will see pics of all the pistons that can go in a d-series engine. From what I read, 88-89 teg pistons are the same as ZC pistons. Just to clarify, this would be an a6 block and head, just different pistons for a higher CR. Jae, I'm a little worried about milling the head. Would I run into valve-piston clearance probs with a higher lift, longer duration cam in this setup? I guess I'd have to ask the person supplying my headwork and cams, eh?

you can always clay your motor to find out how close it will all be. but that is an after the fact kind of measurement which kinda sucks.

Compression Height = 1.181", Dome = +1.5cc, CR = 9.3:1 in a stock 86-89 D16A1

Compression Height = 1.141", Dome = +7.2cc, CR = 9.5:1 in a stock 86-89 D16A1

SAVE....
great info. BTW the Y7 head mentioned above has bigger intake and exhaust valves.
now if only i can boost this set up...
