Default How do I find....

How do I find out how many miles are on my motor? I bought a db7 and I am not sure if the miles on the tac match with the motor. Can anyone help me out and maybe educate me. This is my first integra and I gave been away from the import world for almost 10 years.

If you have access to the AutoCheck or CarFax reports they'll usually list mileage at various services. You can look at that and see if any discrepancies appear and can usually guess within 20,000 miles or so.

You could check for normal wear and tear on parts that are plastic or rubber. Most vacuum hoses will show signs of cracking especially after 150,000 miles. Air intakes are often cracked or splitting around 200,000. Coolant hoses will show splits at the ends and dry rotting. Your oil pan will likely be seeping, as well as your distributor (it has a rubber seal and dumps oil when it fails) and valve cover especially if its pushing 200,000 miles! Your plastic pieces will be dry rotting, and many clips, brackets etc that hold hoses, wires, and brake lines will easily break and shatter over 120-150,000 miles. Much of this can happen as early as 100,000 miles, but more likely after 150,000. Also your fuel injectors will appear rusty. This is just my personal experience. My engine has 275,000 miles and the only part that really shows it, is my oil pan. After replacing my head gasket, VC gasket, distributor and temp sensor, it shows no signs of leaking oil, so visually it might look like it has less than 100,000 miles.
