Default water pump failure

Question.........Can a water pump fail....or do they just leak? I don't mean seize up....that would be a failure for sure......Without going into all of the details...... I believe I have a bubble in my system of maybe my water pump isn't doing its job....it only had a 15K miles on it.

In the last couple of months I've put in a new radiator, head gasket and about 15K ago did the timing belt and water pump. Everything has been good until the weather broke....temps in the +60 the old girl has been running hot.........I'm not losing fluid......just hot. I did the bubble deal and all without success.

I'm thing of taking her to radiator place and have them do a flush........I must admit I did try some of the chemical head gasket treatment.......that was before the new radiator........so it should be clear of ****....but not so sure about the water pump, heatercore or the block.........

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Rick

You've been here long enough to know what is needed in a tech thread.

Yes a water pump can fail

Post car details: year, trim, whether engine is stock type or swapped (and if so, with what).

Ah.....sorry. Since I posted on this forum.........but I understand....

98 Civic Ex
stock 385K miles

I did the timing belt/waterpump 15K ago. Radiator 5K ago....I did not do a flush....which I should have.......because I used several chemical products to try to seal the head gasket what a mistake.......

I do not see circulation at the radiator cap when the engine is running......so I have to assume the Waterpump is toast........is there any other way to confirm this?

I will put an OEM pump as the replacement.....

Thanks

Rick
