1996 Civic DX coupe: stereo question
Hi there!
First time poster here!
I recently purchased a beautiful little DX which is missing the stereo faceplate, and since I know absolutely nothing about car stereo systems, I went to Car Toys to find one. The told me to yank out the stereo unit to find out which faceplate will fit it, but I have no idea how to do that, so I figured I'd do some research first. The guy I bought the DX from swears the car is bone stock, so I need to know what stereo head unit came with this model (originally) in order to find a faceplate that will fit it. I was wondering if anyone has this information, or could give me any advice!
Thanks in advance!

There should be some clips or something to have to push in on the sides of the stereo. While you do that you should be able to pull out the stereo. It's really pretty easy.
But all the stereos I've done are set inside a metal casing that clips in once it's pushed in all the way.

The rounded black plastic retaining cover should pop off easily starting from the top. Then it will expose the clips on the sides. Use two small flatheads and you're golden. Then just eBay a new faceplate.
