Default Need some advice

About 2 years ago my car was 3/4 different shades of black . Took it to a shop guy charged me $700 to smoothen out some body issues and lay down some fresh black paint (clearcoat base coat style of paint)

Now my problem is i didnt drive the car and let it sat outside for a year and a half ended up with terrible oxidation (living in the desert). There is also hives like cracks all over my roof prob fit the end of a toothpick in them and also showing "crow's feet" on other sections.

Took it to him to ask why it happens told me because i didnt drive and wash the dirt off this happens and the heat just eats it away. Told me he will sand and reshoot it all for $500 but suggest i go with a different color.

Now my question is this guy bullshiting me or telling me the truth ? What really happen to my paint if he is lieing

Ill post pics up later if needed

oxidation will come from the sun. but just after a year and a half, that must mean it was a cheap quality of paint.

the crows feet and cracks, means the paint he sprayed had a reaction to the paint that was on your car be4. meaning he needs to sand it good and use sealer before spraying anything else.

The guy is bull shitting you.
The clear coat has failed due to improper application.

Did the roof need any bondo work?
If you can fit a toothpick in the crack, it is most likely seperated bondo.

Crows feet is from as mentioned above. A reacrion to the surface underneath.

No bondo work on the roof only rear quarter panel.

Thanks for your input guys i got a air compressor and gun. Going to try to repaint it myself.

For my situations is it best i sand as deep as i can?

Edit-Whats better for "flexing" and sitting in the sun base coat clearcoat or single stage?

Nice! I started out in the garage and now I'm a damn good painter.
Just watch videos online or post questions or send me a pm and I'll help you out.
If you want the paint job to last. Sand It down to bare metal and primer over the body.
As fast as durability. Base coat/clear coat every day.
If you want the paint to hold up you can just said it till the body is smooth but after a few years it will fail. The base coat on the car is no good now.
