after a long period of down time and damn near close to firing up my motor again. i came across this leak and i need ot know if its fixable. its a hairline crack and the only person who had my trans was my honda mechanic friend that was looking over my trans to ensure its good internally since i had off the car.

A welder might be able to TIG weld the crack (maybe even without taking it apart?), or I've seen just the transmission housings for sale for $100 or so eBay.

i drained the fluid from the transmission and im going to see if one of my friends can weld it for me. you have no idea how bummed out i am right because of this. i just got finished re-rebuilding my turbo gsr and i was just about to fire it up until i saw the oil on the floor. a friend of mine has a bseries trans but its a cable trans. do you know if that matters for that part of the transmission
I dont see the hairline crack you sure its not the allen bolt leaking?, if anything just get it welded it should be fine. Theres much much more work to pull the trans and take it appart to swap housing, and i dont think a cable trans casing is compadible with a hydro.
And if that trans was fine before your "friend" was looking over it its obviously caused by him, might have dropped it or something, i mean what was he doing with it? if he took it appart id be questioning what he did because that sounds like he cracked it. If he over torqued the Allen bolt it would be the dirrect cause of the hairline crack right in that area..

as for welding the hairline crack, i would need a aluminum welder or something else? my brother has a welder but i need to find out which.
Somebody over torqued the drain bolt..
You'll need to tig that.
You'll also need them to gouge the crack a bit so that way they can get a full penetration weld.
It'll also need to be cleaned and baked before welding or else it'll be a bad weld, the oil would contaminate it.
Lastly, this all needs to be done with the case off the transmission.

The crack didn't appear by itself.
Make sure the welder is very familiar with cast aluminum if you go that route. Personally I would replace the case, aside from the crack, the whole threaded part of the case where the plug installs is now deformed. Cases are still easy to come by and a competent trans builder will have the tools needed to shim the mainshaft.
Edit: Most Honda mechanics are not transmission builders and many barely know their way around a transmission. I've had lots of transmissions come through my shop for repairs after previously being worked on by a Honda tech. They should have never touched those transmissions.

for now i put jb weld on the crack to see if it holds until i get a new case. i would just rather put a new case on it then repair it, you know what i mean. what ill do is keep the crack case and repair it and hold on to it if need be.
my friend is a honda mechanic and ive known him for years, i mean years. since i had the motor in pieces i decided it would be a good idea if i had the transmission looked at to ensure everything is good with it. i would hear a chatter when going into second gear, it probably was my 6 puck pressure plate from not being properly torque down. since i had the trans off the vehicle i figured why not have it checked, ya know. im thinking it was caused by him over tightening the allen bolt as well, im bothered by it, but its the end of the world although it is disheartening coming so far and so close to firing up my motor from being down for almost a year.

I was going to say you can try some JB weld it might seal it. But it would be less work to just swap casses, It would suck if it leaked again later down the road from the weld job.
