Rebuilt block sitting
Hey guys, i got a built ls block that i built about a year ago and its been sitting ever since. I was just wondering if its bad to let it sit so long because i'm about to finish it and put it into my civic.
as long as it has not started to rust anywhere, it's fine for it to sit. its always good practice to coat all steel parts in oil and wrap it in plastic if you know it's going to sit.
if it has started to rust, wet a rag with automatic transmission fluid and scrub the cylinders with it, should take most or all of it off. just clean it well after. if the surfaces are still rough from rust after doing this, it may need to be re-honed a little, but that may or may not open up the piston to wall clearance a little.

I made this a few years back. It may or may not be of use to you since it's already been sitting. Hope it helps though...

PS - You can do this to an engine that isn't running, it's just not AS effective.
