96 civic hb flickering headlights/instrument lights
Hi, I have a 96 civic hb and my headlights/ instrument lights flicker once I let go the throttle and let it ride in gear. I've check all the grounds and they're all in tact.
One thing I notice since doing a d16y8 swap in my hb, I didn't change the throttle cable so its a bit longer. On the throttle cable it has those metal rings so you can clip it down but I didn't clip it down.
I was wondering since its just bouncing up and down the metal rings hitting the hood, will that cause grounding problem? I already taped it up with electrical tape but its still day time so I have yet to test it out
btw... I've check the wires behind the intake manifold as well as the fuses so you can rule those out

Hi RonJ,
Yeah I've tested/changed the alternator, check the fuse 7.5, changed the eld, checked all the grounds if they're loose, anything I can find when searching in the search bar about flickering headlights/instrument lights on honda-tech I even check the wires before swapping the d16y8

Do this test:
Warm up the engine and turn off all electrical accessories. With the engine idling, measure voltage across the two battery posts.
Turn on the headlights and the cabin blower to MAX. Again measure voltage across the two battery posts.
Post the two voltage readings.

took awhile cause I misplaced the wires for the multimeter...

However, the flickering appears to occur under a different condition:
my headlights/ instrument lights flicker once I let go the throttle and let it ride in gear
I found out whats the problem... When I converted my windows and door locks to automatic the connector floor harness are coming out of the connector so its shorting there... I either have to go to the junk yard find a new floor harness or just solder them all together
RonJ, Thank you for your help!
