Default 99 Civic EX - hard starting problem when engine is warm

Hello
I have Honda civic 1999 d16y8 with auto transmission, 220k km on the clock.

For the last 6 month i have very annoying start issue.

When my engine in working temperature and i stop for a short period of time, for shopping or something else, it takes up to 7 seconds to start it again.
Engine keeps cranking like there is no fuel or spark... (only my feeling)
and it happens on every stop!

In the morning it starts perfect! but then my rpm around 500-700 and slowly rise up to 1500.

The car used mainly in town for short trips, but once a week it goes highway around 100 km trip.

List of things i did in the past months:

ECU diagnostic -THERE IS NO CODES!

Distributor - rebuild with OEM parts and also tried a couple from junkyard.
O2 sensor - new Denso unit.
Fuel pump - new aftermarket, fuel pressure within Honda specs.
PCV valve - tested - works
Main relay - the solder was fine, got it resoldered to be sure.
Injectors - replaced from junkyard.
ECT - new aftermarket.
IAT - new aftermarket.
IACV- new aftermarket.
Throttle body- cleaned ,swapped from junkyard.

Once it starts car runs great, the engine is healthy, got it rebuild 2 years ago. New piston rings, new gaskets, timing belt and more...
No oil burning!
Compression test results: 197 195 200 200 psi
Overall i take good care of it, do regular maintenance.
So I get to the point i don't know what to do next and i am really disappointed...
Looking for advice where else to look.
Thanks.

Are pulling codes with a code reader that also outputs live sensor data?

In the morning it starts perfect! but then my rpm around 500-700 and slowly rise up to 1500.
Providing more details about this issue may help.

Have you tried adjusting the idle speed as per service manual instructions? See FAQs sticky.

UPDATE:
Just inspected the idle and adjusted it step by step, was a bit on the high side, according to manual.
Now fixed.
The car idles at 750 rpm and stays about the same with lights and AC on, however on cold engine it stars at 500rpm and slowly rise up to 1.5k rpm.
No affect on hot starts - just keeps cranking about 5-7 seconds.
Checked for vacuum leaks - all good.

The car was tested two times with two different diagnostic tools with live sensor data.
They told me there is no codes and all parameters was good.
is there any specific thing to look for? what scan tool should i use?

Have you tried clicking the ignition on (don't crank) to let the fuel pump prime first? Turn on for a few seconds (until CEL goes out) and back off, repeat that 2 or 3 times on a hot start then finally crank and see if it starts more readily. Also if you're in a quiet area you should be able to hear the pump run and then stop as you do that. Sometimes the fuel runs out of the lines back into the tank, there is a check valve in the pump intended to prevent that.

So today i disconnected the aftermarket alarm system and connected everything stock.
In addition disconnected the ECU and checked it for bad solder joins, resolder some, but still having the same problem.
Uploaded a video so you can see how it looks like:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuNN...ature=youtu.be

3 hours before the video i did 5km trip.
If you look at the RPM you can see something strange, even after engine starts it takes time to RPM to stabilize.

Check the Ohms on the igniter...or replace it...that's usually the issue when it does the delayed cranking when its hot...just an idea!

Replaced distributor from my second car, which works perfect, same problem.
My personal feeling that its related to fuel system... maybe wrong mixture at start?

Did you ever figure out the problem? I’m having the same issue with my 5 speed ‘98 Civic EX.

This is a four year old thread. I suggest you start a new one and give the forum details on your specific situation. You'll probably get more response.
