Lost 20whp after itr cams install
Hope you guys can help me out here, its a b20vtec Old dyno numbers is 332whp with a stock b16a cams and intake manifold with a t3t4 e cover 57trim comp wheel and then changed few things,,, itr intake manifold and cams 98 spec i think also changed the comp wheel to a 60trim same cover.. And hit the dyno, lost 20whp through the whole power band... I remember the cams were installed tdc piston number 4 because the up mark on the cam gears was on the bottom 6 o'clock nwei hope again you guys can help me
The valves don't have a TDC. The cams do. Considering that he replaced the cams, which control the valves, and considering the motor is capable of running...yeah, safe bet he didn't do some dumb **** like that. If 4 is at TDC, then 1 is also at TDC.

the piston bt the valve events are different but either way i doubt thats the problm cams 180 out would run like complete **** if u can keep it running
he never did say if he check the valve lash or reset the valve lash. maybe the valve springs are to weak to control to extra lift from the itr cams? are you using stock valve spring ?
Do i have to touch the valve lash even thou im using an oem cams?? I thought the specs were the same with a b16a cams thats why i didnt bother
[QUOTE=bergercurtis;50783195]Like suggested, you should do a compression test next and compare it to your first assembly.[/QUOTE
The thing is i dont have anything to compare ot with, but what numbers should i be expecting

Afaik i told him the changes thats why i need a retune, funny thing is looking at the graph the final run looks like the same with the prev tune but not that totally exact copy
Also, since your distributor had to come off to replace the cams, did you reset your ignition timing? It sounds like you took a lot of liberties and shortcuts that you really shouldn't have.
Agreed. And it could be the difference of him toning down the timing to a more conservative timing if he had a really aggressive advanced timing before. This is assuming changes were actually made to tune.
