Hello guys, I have been driving around in my Ej for a while now and recently upgraded my final drive to 4.7..

Now it definitely made a huge difference on how he car drives, however I have also come to realize that I may need to upgrade Emmy clutch?

Now, should I bother with lightweight fly wheels, pulleys?

 

Is the clutch slipping?

How much power does the car make? What size and type of tires? What types of driving do you do. Those will dictate what clutch you should run and weight of flywheel. Pulleys have nothing to do with the transmission and I don't recommend them.

 

As of right now the clutch is oem, it slipped when I first swapped in the 4.7, almost right off the line too, after replacing the clutch fluid, adjusting and lowering the engage point of clutch pedal, it does grab. However the shop is recommending me to upgrade them. I do city and highway commuting, occasional spirit driving.

 

I wouldn't worry about it unless it slips again.

No. Keep in mind your engines power has not changed.

If when you removed the transmission you noticed your clutch was worn, then yes it just makes sense to replace it while you're in there.

hmm, maybe i should explain it a bit more, since the coupes are not common in Taiwan, so most of them are automatic. Mine was swapped with an EG tranny with 4.0 fd, and when it was removed, i noticed uneven wear on the pressure plate, the top seems fine, the lower part has really weird wear.. the shop that did the work told me it could be the cause for the clutch's occational slipping, oh and, there are signs of internal leakage from clutch cylinder..

 

Well that's a whole other story. If you have worn parts, then yes you should replace them. You should fix your leak as well, depending on whether it's the master or the slave leaking you may be able to rebuild it rather than just replace it.

 

If they are worn, replace it. If the slave cylinder is leaking, replace it before you replace the clutch. Unless it's a carbon clutch then it will be junk once the brake fluid contaminates it.

 

sounds good, will probably upgraded it to a 750kg. since I'm looking to do a 150whp build on the D16..
