Default $100 d16y7 turbo setup

Looking at picking up an EK hatch with a stock d16y7.
I'm going to have the car on the road for less then $600. It'll be a winter car.

Is there such thing as a super budget turbo setup? I'm talking like a couple hundred dollars max. Looking to run low boost, say a maximum of 5psi.

I'm imagining mostly used parts with some junkyard stuff. I'm not new to wrenching, although I've never done a turbo setup before.

If it's impossible, that's fine, just thought I would ask.

Do you know how to weld? $100 is silly, but if you build your own manifold and downpipe, and buy a junk yard turbo off a Saab (or a Subaru, but good luck finding one of those...), you would still need to buy injectors, and you would still need to get a tune. DSM blue tops injectors flow ~450cc/min, and are a good entry-level injector for like, $150 on eBay. The tune alone will cost you near $500 from most competent tuners.

A bare bones, absolute cheap as **** setup with a lot of DIY, plus the cost of a tune, you might be able to get away for a grand. That's assuming you can weld. If you can't, be ready to spend more like $1500. And don't even consider one of those $400 eBay specials - those things are as likely to blow up as they are to not even fit right, and you still need to shell out the money for a tune.

Welding is on my list of stuff to learn, buying a 240v welder and gas setup later this year.

Tune I can do myself, with access to an unlocked ECU. I've never turned on a honda platform so I'm not sure what options there are for piggyback/standalone.

No chance at pulling some used injectors at the yard from a different platform and cleaning them up?

x2. Especially not if its your first turbo build. (ebay)You'll most likely be replacing crap/modifying before your done troubleshooting the other crap, learning the hard way what works, what won't hold up, and what was needed the first time around assuming it didn't cause engine damage. For 5 psi??? Just…………. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/thud.gif. Research every question you can think of in different formats and after time you will understand.

Looks like I expected, very difficult/impossible to do on a tight budget.

Thanks anyways though!
