Default Noob Engine Question - Miles high

Hello,

I have a Honda Accord 2000 LX.
Engine: 3.0L J30A1 V6 200 hp (150 kW)
I've recently surpassed 200,000 miles. How is this going to affect my engine performance and what should I do in the near future about this?

Assuming average maintenance you're going to have two primary areas of detraction. The piston rings loosing seal and carbon building up in the intake system.

Look up what the J30A1 is supposed to return on a compression test and buy a decent compression tester gauge. Check all of your cylinders (ecu fuse pulled and throttle floored) There's not a whole lot you can do about this aside from giving the engine ten seconds or so after startup and going easy on it until the engine is warm. Regular oil changes with synthetic will help too.

Carbon buildup may or may not be an issue in your engine, it depends on how much oil the engine consumes and the health of the PCV. It never hurts to seafoam your engine though, that's fairly easy to look-up.
