H22 swap question
H22 with an Auto is up for grabs near me. My wives car need a motor, 322k burns oil like a Whale on fire. I found an H22 from a JDM importer near us. It comes with an auto. Will the Auto for the H22 swap with the F22a6 and 4 speed auto thats in the car currently?
Couldnt get the stupid search to work for me.
Looking for a damn near plug and play. I want to go standard. She cant and wont learn to drive one. So auto is the only option and she loves this POS. I want a bit of power out of it as its our only car. So the H22 seems like the best bet.
Body is ok with just a little bit of cancer around the rear fender lips.
What gets me about the oil burning is that, it never burns at idle or low throttle, if you floor it or try to climb a steep hill in the city it looks like one of those smoke shows you see on a war boat.
2 grand in first gear with moderate throttle climbing a hill it smokes like hell. I can lock the E-brake in 1st gear and slowly raise the revs to the about 2 grand and watch the smoke show. Grey and blue. Im new to Honda's.
I wanna put a motor in it.
I have already Put a Timing set in, Head Gasket, Full tune up and a coil. Oh, that stupid coil. lol

You left out some pretty important information.
Just going by what you posted here I'm going to hazard a relatively safe guess and say you own a CB7 seeing as the was only vehicle equipped for an F22A6. These are OBD1 vehicles.
The H22 and trans from your local importer is more than likely an OBD2 engine. If this is the case, you will not be able to use the auto trans from the H22 as there are differences in how they operate, sensors, solenoids, etc. You could use the F22A6 auto trans with the stock TCU but the swap will not be worth since it won't be able to take advantage of the higher rpm power that the H22 provides. It will still shift like the F22A6 was in it. You would also have to find an OBD1 auto P13 ecu which are pretty rare and expensive. There is also a rare P19 TCU that will take full advantage of what the H22 has to offer and allow higher rpm shifts but since you wouldn't be able to use the matching transmission it would be risky business using it on your existing transmission with 322k on it.
Basically there are ways to make it work but in the end, is it worth it? Probably not. The gains will be negligible for the cost involved. Plus H22s will begin to consume oil much sooner than that F22 did so if you intend to keep the car for awhile it's probably not the best route. Most H22s use a quart between oil changes by the time they have 150k miles on them. Since you stated it's your only car, my advice would be just find a cheap F22 long block to install. Junkyards should have them for a few hundred bucks. Then you could buy a toy and do whatever you wanted to it. Trying to modify your only vehicle(that you and your wife rely on) isn't really a good idea from my personal experience.
If you're dead set on doing a swap, this has been covered a million times over. The google machine has all the answers you need.
