Default door handles?

so I looked in the FAQ's but can not seem to find this covered, i need to replace the drivers side door handle on my 93 Del Sol. i do have a general knowledge of doing this kinda stuff so I could get by but still better to ask than run in blind. How would i go about changing the door handle? I'm assuming i have to remove the inner door panel no matter what but the one that's on there is busted up so i don't know about the screwing and mounting. and before anyone makes a snide remark i know i should go out there and grab one of the replacements and look it over to see if that will tell me anything

Here you go; (All I did was Google "Del sol exterior door handle replacement")

Door Handle Repair (92-95 Civic & 93-97 del Sol) - HondaCivicForum.com

Get yourself a copy of the factory service manual. There are free downloads online. If you're going to work on your car you'll need it.

Just google "Del sol factory service manual". Literally, copy and paste that into google.

Search for a Factory Service Manual aka FSM.

You can also look at any number of online parts dealers and use their diagrams for reference.

You'd be right to assume the door panel will need to be removed but if it's "busted up" as you have stated then you're going to have to figure it out or post pictures of what's busted up. How can anyone help you if you only provide a vague explanation of what's wrong? I'd start by removing all screws and bolts/nuts you can see and then post back.

EDIT: "eH" beat me to it.

Be careful pulling the door panel out, you need to push against it with a lot of force near the interior door handle or you'l break that while trying to pull it out.

No the interior door panel is not busted up it's the exterior door handle that's busted up

Yes, I realize this is a 4-year old thread.

I need to replace driver’s door handle assembly on my 1997 del sol. I found a closed thread which reported that the OEM interior assembly for the 93-95 will fit my 97, only difference being grey vs. black. Hopefully, that is the case. What about the exterior assembly? Will 93-95 OEM exterior assembly fit my 97?
