Default Brake Question

I was drive home tonight about 60mph and a dog starts to run out in front of me so i slam on the brakes. I drive a 93 si hatch w/o ABS, the rear brakes locked up but the front brakes didn't. This is probly due to the fact that there is no weight in the back hatch and what little weight that is there was shifted up and forward.
This leads me to believe there is alot of room for improvment in my front brakes.

I just ordered Axxis Ultimates under the advice of Andie of Colbalt. I'm hoping that will help out i'll also be getting new AutoZone rotors. The car is my daily driver/autoX car is there anything else i can do besides SS lines? How much of an improvement do they offer, better feel and modulation?

I agree, a good set of pads will make a big difference. Make sure they are rotor safe.

maybe you got too much brake in the rear?
maybe your shocks are going bad?

i dont think your goal should be to make sure your front brakes lock sooner - that would be counter productive to better braking, just figure out why your rears locked faster.

Try an adjustable proprtioning valve, that should allow
some fine tuning of the balance between front and rear brakes.

I have koni yellow shocks and they are fine. I think the rears locked up because there isn't much weight in the back. My goal isn't to make the front brakes lock sooner...

Ehhh, not quite true. It will depend on how stiffly sprung the car is and how balanced it is to begine with.

I've found that my RX-7 always locks the rears WAY before the fronts. This is using Hawk Blues in front and Hawk HPS in rear. I tried Hawk Black in the rear once and the rears would always lock. Next time round, I plan to use the cheapest street pads I can find out back AND install a prop valve to reduce line pressure.
